Bergen County Chiropractor, Dr Peter Ferraro, recommends light to moderate exercise for obese patients suffering from arthritis and joint pain.  A new study from Duke University concurs that regular exercise may significantly reduce a patient’s arthritis pain even if they are unable to lose excess weight.

bergen county chiropractorDr Ferraro is quoted, “Exercise for arthritis patients may be painful at first, but long term benefits show that these patients can gain back more mobility and reduce their pain tremendously.”  Dr Ferraro says that even light to moderate exercise such as walking on a treadmill or outdoors can be beneficial.

According to Dr Ferraro, many of his arthritis patients say that they do not exercise because they are afraid of aggravating their joints, when in fact lack of exercise can increase pain and stiffness.

Dr Ferraro says that keeping your muscles and surrounding tissue strong is important to maintaining support for bones. Lack of exercise can lead to a weakening of the muscles that support bones, creating more stress on joints.

Bergen County Patients Should Check With Doctors Before Beginning Exercise Programs

Patients suffering from arthritis or joint pain are advised to consult with their physician before beginning any exercise program.  Different types of arthritis require different types of exercises. Exercises that may be recommended for arthritis patients include those that mimic natural range of motion such as raising and lowering the arms over the head, light weight training and low impact aerobic exercises such as swimming, walking or bike riding.

Dr Ferraro may also recommend some patients follow a nutraMetrix® supplement program. nutraMetrix Advanced Nutraceuticals are different from lower quality vitamins. nutraMetrix products contain no fillers or binders. They are isotonic in nature and 90-95 percent of the supplements are absorbed in the small intestine within 5 minutes of swallowing them.

The nutraMetrix products available through NJ Chiropractor Dr Peter Ferraro offer state-of-the-art health, wellness and weight-management solutions.
